    Hello,

I've opened a troubleticket at cpanel over 36 hours ago, but did not get ANY reply  , so I'll be trying my luck here.

We have 4 cpanel servers running, of which 3 are also nameservers.
    217.22.60.11 - (ns1.lazernet.be)
    217.22.60.12 - (ns2.lazernet.be)
    217.22.60.13 - (ns3.lazernet.be
217.22.60.14 - just added this server 14 days ago

Since past weekend (probably after an automatic cpanel update) we have a lot of troubles, because dns records are simply disappearing. this is especially the case for domains that we point to external IP addresses (so where we do not host the website ourselves). The past days we had to add records manually and directly on the server. In the cpanel WHM Admin all seems normal, records are showing there, but just don't work. We've already opened a troubleticket earlier this week, and it was solved, only for a few hours, then the disappearing of domains in DNS began again.

Example of a domain that is not working at the moment :

A lot of our customers are down, fe :
    vitalineaprogramme.be
    uitwiskeling.be
    tpe.be
    broux.be
    arcgallery.be
    acigol.be
    idi.be
All the same DNS problem (see www.dnsreport.com)

On the newest server 217.22.60.14 only domains with an account on that server have a dns record, the others are not showing in DNS, although we've configured the DNS cluster with all 4 servers.

Another issue, which might be related to this, is that the server 217.22.60.11 is running an older version of cpanel (WHM 10.1.0 cPanel 10.2.0-R10) then the 3 other servers (WHM 10.8.0 cPanel 10.8.1-R30), and we can not update this server. The update starts and then times out :
    --------

    Updating /scripts ...
    Sync Source: http://httpupdate.cpanel.net/STABLE/scripts
    Fetching http://httpupdate.cpanel.net/cpanelsync/STABLE/scripts/.cpanelsync.lock (0)....@69.90.250.35......connected......receiving...100%......Done
    Fetching http://httpupdate.cpanel.net/cpanelsync/STABLE/scripts/.cpanelsync.bz2 (0)....@69.90.250.35......connected......receiving...33%...66%...99%...100%....
    Done updating /scripts
Found hostname to be obelix.lazernet.be, which resolves to 217.22.60.11
Hostname Virtual Host is already setup
PHP version file is up to date
    SpamAssassin disabled in Service Manager
    Ftp Quota Check v1.0
    Updating lazer:glitterati....Done
    Updating stlucask:grundtvig....Done
    --> then nothing anymore...
    ---------------

This is what I've asked cpanel to do:
    1. a complete check on the 4 servers, especially concerning nameservers.
    2. Update 217.22.60.11, or even all servers to a stable build of cpanel ?

Since I get no reply from cpanel, and a lot of our customers have their domain names down for over 48 hours now, maybe anybody here has a solution ?
    Thank you
    Rudy

It's been 4 days now since we opened a troubleticket with cpanel. Still had NO RESPONSE whatsoever ! When I called them 2 days ago, they promised me they were looking into this matter.
We've been using cpanel for 3 years now, paid a lot of money, and the first time we ask for support, they simply do not answer...
They leave us no choice then to switch to other server software. this is NOT the way to give support to your customers.

    Go on, have a guess
If you've tried phoning cPanel again and got no more help, I would suggest escalating to billing@cpanel.net if you haven't already (presuming that you get your licenses directly from cPanel).

The alternative would be to ask one of the server admins that advertise in the Ads & Offers forum for help. The first thing cPanel are likely to suggest is indeed to ensure that all servers are running the latest version of the release tree that you are using.

As to why one of them is hanging on upgrade, it's difficult to say without checking /scripts/upcp as to which part it is hanging in, but running it through strace might indicate where the problem lies.
