    Hi,

My ISP tells me that our mailing lists can't work because our mail server is on a different server to our domain (earth-touch.com) where our website is hosted. This doesn't make sense to me as I know that there are a whole bunch of companies that don't have their webservers and mail servers on the same server and the DNS entries are different for web and mail anyway.

I've got full access to both cpanels on both servers but don't really know where to go to see if i can resolve the problem. I'm sure it must be possible.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you using Mailman for your mailing lists or a mailing list web app you've installed yourself?

We're using mailman v2.1.11. My biggest problem is that I don't have root access (or any other access besides cpanel) to those servers. So my hands are cut off. But my ISP's owner is telling us that it has something to do with hardcoded DNS entries and that's why they can't get the mailing lists to work. I'm suppose I'm kind of looking for guidance so I can tell my ISP what to do to try and fix the problem.

This is what they have to say ,' When we administrative the group lists it always takes it back to the USA (web) server instead of staying on the SA (mail) server. All confirmations under administration keep going back to the USA server because of some hard coding within the program. If they are on the same server all works fine.'

I understand that I don't have much to work with but if anyone can think of anything, I would really appreciate it.

    thanks :)

The main issue I see with this Mailman setup is since mail is on the mail server and Mailman is on the cPanel/WHM server, how would mail directed to Mailman make it to the cPanel/WHM server?
