DNS question how many ip's

    Hi how many ip's do i have to have to have dns server and run website. so i can add more ip's but one more thing to what is a good beginner speed hosting speed

    1 IP is enough for personal usage, for your customers it's best to have 2, as for the "speed" I suppose you mean server config, well it depends on how many sites you plan to host on it, and how much ressources each site uses.

    no i mean internet speed i have 12 mb connection what would you think i could host many sites ? i have 5 sites i would like to host my own

    Is that 12mb upstream or downstream?

    up stream i dont know what the downstream is i think it is the same

    Main thing to keep in mind is that it's not so much the sites themselves as the traffic and type of traffic they are pulling. Serving static HTML pages is much easier on bandwidth consumption than serving podcasts or or shareware downloads.

    If you intend to use cPanel/WHM, be sure to have a publicly visible static IP address. Dynamic, sticky and internal IP addresses are unacceptable for licensing.
