    Hi forum, editing a DNS zone in my WHM I tried to redirect 1 email user to other server but did not work. :( It was the configuration:

    Code:

    Domain: TTL: Record type:

    user    14440  IN  MX  0  smtp.otherdomain.com
       //trying to send [email]user@domain.com[/email] to smtp.otherdomain.com

    @       14400  IN  MX  0  smtp.otherdomain.com
       //trying to keep all other users of domain.com in domain.com

    Do anyone knows what i'm doing wrong? :confused:

    Thankz

    Did you put the dot at the end of the target domain? For example

    user 14440 IN MX 0 smtp.otherdomain.com.

    If you specify smtp.otherdomain.com without the trailing dot, the system sees it as smtp.otherdomain.com.your_server_host_name

    Thank you Stefaans but yes, I did use the trailing dot and I don't see a consistent behavior cause sometimes wildcards work and sometimes do not. In fact I made a mistake with my copy-paste technique, this is the correct not-working configuration:

    Code:

    Domain: TTL: Record type:

    user    14440  IN  MX  0  smtp.otherdomain.com.
       //trying to send [email]user@domain.com[/email] to smtp.otherdomain.com

    @       14400  IN  MX  0  domain.com.
       //trying to keep all other users of domain.com in domain.com

    Thankz
