Hello,

I have a cPanel&WHM server v98.0.8.
Some of my users are asking to add an autodiscover to the dns record. In settings on WHM are option for autodiscover:

When a user goes to add an autodiscover record via DNS Editor, he does not see that he has managed to add an autodiscover record. But, on WHM I see
that he had already added a autodiscovery record...

Do I have to enable this option on the WHM under the Tweak setting? Is it recommended?

More info, this users have remote dns in dns registry for that domain (but on cPanel dns is entered cpanel dns servers). MX records for that domain are remote, www record is on cpanel (but in registry for that domain is remote)..

Best regards,
Elizabeta

Hey there! I do like having that option enabled if you have users connecting with webmail clients, as that will let the autoconnect tools in the client get the server data without extra manual work.

However, if the DNS for the domain is not being controlled on the cPanel server, the user would need to copy any DNS records over to their DNS service so they are active.

Hello,

I have enabled the autodiscover option on WHM.
The user tried to add an autodiscover record via a DNS record.
He successfully adds the record, but in the DNS record view he doesn't see that he added it at all???
I see on WHM that dns record autodiscover exist....

In WHM >> Feature Manager, can you make sure the feature list applied to that user has the "Zone Editor (AAAA, CAA, DMARC, SRV, TXT)" option enabled? Without that, they would not be able to see the full list of DNS records.

Hello,

@cPRex thank you!
I just did it, in WHM >> Feature Manager, in feature list applied to that user I have enabled option "Zone Editor (AAAA, CAA, DMARC, SRV, TXT)" . Now user can see all DNS records.

That case is many years old, so the same problems wouldn't be happening on a modern build. Autodiscover is designed to help email clients detect the appropriate configuration automatically, and wouldn't be related to the Exchange server configuration. Are you seeing a situation where this isn't working?

Hello,

@cPRex one user was interested in using the autodiscover service...
He did not report that he had a problem now.The problem with the autodiscover service (and remote exchange server) was many years ago and now there is probably no problem..

Thank you all!

Best regards,
