    Hi,
I'm trying to setup my new dedicated server properly as far as the DNS is concerned and after testing it at: http://www.dnscolos.com
    all passes except these two:

    FAILED: Mailserver connection test
HELO, MAIL FROM, RCPT TO, QUIT

Connect to mailserver mydomain.ca FAILED (could be greylisting)
    220 and/or bulk e-mail. 250 server.mydomain.ca Hello srv195086.webreus.nl [87.119.195.86]

    FAILED: Mailserver greeting
The server should have an A record which points to the mailserver for the hostname which is presented in the greeting
    mydomain.ca

I can't figure out how to setup an A record for the mail server???

    thanks Todd

One of our customers asked us to look at their dnscolos.com report this morning, with the same results listed above. I assured them that DNS Stuff and IntoDNS both produced matching, clean DNS reports.

@tjyoung: We do our mail server DNS as follows:

    domain.com. 14400 IN MX 0 mail.domain.com.
    mail 14400 IN A xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

"domain.com" is of course your domain name, and "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" is your mail server IP (usually your shared IP).

Thanks, I am thinking it isn't a problem as http://www.intodns.com reports a clean bill of health.

    Too bad dnsstuff charges now...:(

    Thanks for your considerations.
