I got an email today from System Integrity Monitor to tell me that DNS had to be restarted.

What would cause DNS to restart itself?

Oh, ok. Would the logs show what version it updated to? (I assume it's related to bind)

    Go on, have a guess
The relevant upcp log emailed to the root forwarder on that day would probably mention it, as should the logwatch email from that day. You should also find it in /var/log/messages

What would I be looking for in the upcp email?

    I spotted this:
Can't find anything specifically stating "DNS"
