My first day as a CPanel person and I am looking for advice.

Is there a master dns template that I use to generate the correct dns entries for any accounts that are created?.

When I looked in edit/create accounts I saw:

localhost
mail
ns1.mydomain.com
ns2.mydomain.com

Do I need ns1, ns2 and mail to have their separate zones or would they go in a master?.

Any examples would be gratefully received :)

Thx

John

DNS entries are created when an account is created. If you're not sure about DNS or working with WHM, then you're best bet is to watch & learn as you setup accounts (and have a knowledgable person standing by would be good) or do some book reading.

This is basic ServerAdmin stuff and one either does an &earn & learn& or knows what they are doing before-hand. ;)

yeah or maybe ask a question and get a valid response
Not sure why you would resurrect a thread more than 2 years old but just for the record, zone templates are located at /var/cpanel/zonetemplates/.

thanks for the reply, I was searching through stuff and felt like venting about vague answers, thinking outloud. I have a server that will park domains with WHM but not with CPANEL. Straightened out some DNS issues, but still something up, end of my rope at this point.
