This was exactly the problem.
I managed to find the source of the attack and blocked it in fw.
This service, dnsadmin is responsible for ddns? How is it triggered via web server?

I would guess, and it is a guess, that the DNS server is also on the same machine, correct? If so, all those Apache requests would likely have a corresponding DNS query as part of the transaction.
