My dnsadmin-ssl is hanging and causing high CPU usage. Is there anything I can do to stop this? What process can I restart so that I don't have to kill off the individual processes? I have 10 servers clustered together for DNS and this issue isn't specific to any one of the servers. It happens intermittently to all of them at different times.

    Code:
    24194 root 25 0 26 0:10.14 0.3 16664 6328 3696 R dnsadmin-ssl

    Please open a tickets @

    https://tickets.cpanel.net/submit/

If you strace them you should be able to tell why they are hanging.

Will open a ticket. But is there a way to kill all dnsadmin processes without having to kill them one by one?

    dnsadmin - SAVEZONE - yteQo6qmlI0O_ER0uRrnz --correlative
    dnsadmin - ADDZONECONF - 0uUtaxh977XMqr1rQs --correlative
    Code:
Process 25436 attached - interrupt to quit
    read(18, "", 4096) = 0
    read(11, "", 4096) = 0

Excellent work on the strace. Please pm me the ticket #. You should be able to kill off the child process. Take a look at pstree -p and kill off anything under the main dnsadmin process.

This issue has been addressed in the latest EDGE build and should make its way down the line late last week.

    Nick -

Has this dnsadmin-ssl fix been implemented in the stable builds yet or perhaps release? Still seeing this issue on some machines and its not clear from your response how far down the line this patch has made it.

The issue Nick addressed is fixed in all branches of 11.23.

That said, a different issue emerged recently that causes dnsadmin-ssl to segfault, fill up /usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/docroot with core files and create strange files in /var/named. This issue is addressed in the EDGE build we recently published and should be fixed in all branches later this week (barring incident).

I assume these core files are safe to remove for now unless you would like to see them? Is it necesarry to open a ticket on it?

Incidentally when I do a pstree -p and kill off anything under the main dnsadmin process starting at the lowest one it just replaced by a new PID.

Can you make any suggestions in the meantime while we are waiting for the patch to come down the line?

Thank you for the offer, however we were able to narrow down the issue and resolve it. You may remove the core files.

The only reliable work around we suggest at this point is to disable use of dnsadmin-ssl via Tweak Settings. The non-compiled version does not have this issue. Once all the current syncs are complete, new syncs will happen with the non-compiled version.
