Do backups contribute towards bandwidth limits?

Hi,

Apologies for this basic question but i've done a good amount of searching and yet to find a solid answer.

Can anyone please tell me if making a full backup will contribute to my monthly bandwidth quota?

If you are transferring the backup off server, yes. Otherwise no, it will only use your disk space.

If you generate and download a backup in cPanel, it will count toward your bandwidth quota.

Backups that your server administrator (your hosting provider) makes do not count against your bandwidth quota, even if they are transferred offsite, because they are not done by your cPanel user.
