do u have to run buildapache after installing mod_gzip ?

i've used the script in layer1 downloads for mod_gzip (and had to get mod_gzip.so elsewhere) and it went through with no errors but tests so mod_gzip is not working. i've restarted apache.

You should not have to rebuild apache. Where did you get the other file? Was it from a system of the same sort? (in other words, if you are running redhat 7.2, did you get it from a redhat 7.2 box?)
