Do you need 2 Cpanel license if you have a standby server?

Let's say you have Server A which is active all the time. And you have Server B which is not accessible via domain (just IP).

Server A replicates to Server B on a daily basis.

If Server A goes down, Server B should take over (i.e., point name servers to Server B).

Do I need 2 Cpanel license in this scenario?

You need 1 cPanel license per IP, not per domain. You can have more IPs managed by WHM on the same server.

    1 server = 1 IP = 1 licence

    Hello,

Of note, you may wish to contact cs@cpanel.net for any licensing questions, since they handle such questions and are the authority on licensing.

    Thanks!
