Docker Containers to Replace UserSpace Domain Jailed Roots?

Docker Containers seem ideal to replace and significantly enhance the present cPanel UserLand Domain Jailed Root system design model. This sort of mod needs to be done up in DeveloperLand, not UserLand. Is there any discussion going on in cPanel to consider this prospect?

Separately down here in UserLand, it seems likely that installing and running an instance of cPanel in a Docker Container is possible (I haven't tried it). I can't too easily figure out the advantage of doing this (for my own cPanel single VM instance) in my production environment... so I'm not racing out to spend time trying it out.

But having all cPanel User Domains isolated within their own individual Docker Containers seems like a technically superior solution to the (old fashioned?) jailed root model of today.

cPanelMichael:

Thanks for this informative update.

When I conducted a site search prior to my query, I was very surprised to find nothing at all on "Docker Containers". Considering the explosive popularity of this topic in the Outside World, this seemed very strange.

So I've discovered two things via this experience:

1.) The contents of the "Feature Request" portion of the website are not indexed in either of the 2 available cPanel.net Search windows;

2.) Availability of the "Feature Request" access link (via the top "Community" tab) is irregular & inconsistent, such that depending upon where you are - it's very often not displayed at all (like now for instance... I'm signed into the "Forums" section and the "Feature Request" link is not showing on the top "Community" tab pull down menu... nor anywhere else that I can find).

Moving forward... anyone else searching for "Docker Containers" will now also learn about the good discussion going on about this topic over on the cPanel Feature Requests section... but only here via this Forum posting.

Thanks again for your help. Now knowing about this cPanel.net search limitation - in the future I'll always additionally/separately search the Feature Request section too.
