Does a forwarder require a matching email account, or can you have a standalone forwarder?

Hi Folks,

If I have no email accounts for a cPanel account, can I create a forwarder to forward say [email protected] > my personal email account without having a separate email account for [email protected] in cPanel?

ie. Does a forwarder require a matching email account, or can you have a standalone forwarder?

Thanks,
Steve

I already have the email account to forward to.

My web host is telling me I need the email account to match the email forwarder?

(i.e. I can't have an email forwarder without an identical email account to match it - I don't think this is correct)

Hey there! You can configure a catchall email address from within the cPanel account. This will allow you to forward, discard, or pipe to a program any emails sent to an invalid email address for your domain. More on this can be found here:
