    Look at the changelog.

There is mention of a fix in 9.9.1 build 19.

I have not had a report of this problem in 9.9.2_S8

I run 9.9.2_S8 and have a few issues with Spam assissin. Mainly it quit rewriting the headers for incoming Spam.

The other really fun thing is this below, which recurrs constantly when I killall sapmd about an hour later this process appears, then spawns another, up to five from this same user, every time:

    17:20:56 up 4 days, 5:07, 1 user, load average: 7.02, 7.23, 7.14

Those spamd processes are normal behaviour fpr spamassassin v3. To clean up your SA3.0 installation, you could try the posted solution in the changelog:

    /scripts/updatenow;/scripts/fixspamassassinfailedupdate

    Hi Chirpy,

Well I have tried just about everything, including that fix.
I will say we are closer here. I say this for other users who may find this thread,
when you go to the user's account that is affected:

Un-install spam assassin, then install it.

Make sure it says that 3.0.0. is installed versus 2.x.x

Now we apparently have 3.0 installed.

The scripts Chirpy/changelog (stange place for a fix) reccommends handles the process of getting 3.0.0 better than anything else I have tried including getting them per Anup's suggestion direct from cpan, using install the spamassassin RPM, or the perl module installer Mail::Spamassassin from WHM.

Now if I can get it to add the additional headers, e.g.

    Code:
    X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 3.0.0 (2004-09-13) on my.working-server.com
    X-Spam-Level: *
    X-Spam-Status: No, score=1.3 required=6.0 tests=AWL,EXTRA_MPART_TYPE,
    	HTML_90_100,HTML_MESSAGE autolearn=no version=3.0.0

    Hope that helps someone.

I will post a fix if I can get the headers issue resolved. Any suggestions are appreciated.

    ================
    On a side note:
    Code:
    /usr/local/cpanel/bin/spamassassin3update
does not seem to contribute to getting the header issue resolved after

    /scripts/updatenow
    /scripts/fixspamassassinfailedupdate

and Restart Exim via WHM .

Well, here is the fix that worked for me after everything else failed:

upgrade to Edge, then to Stable.

    Then:

    /scripts/updatenow
    /scripts/fixspamassassinfailedupdate
    /scripts/restartsrv_exim

    (as per Nick)

Not sure what the extra steps did but seems to have corrected it for the time being.

    Hope that helps.

Glad you got it going. I was about to post the following command which might have given you more information into the problem:

    spamassassin --lint

This checks the integrity of your SpamAssassin configuration. If it throws up errors, you can then run the same command in Debug mode to find where it's generating that error:

    spamassassin --lint -D

I mention this here for anyone else who runs into the same problems.

I tried that command (spamassassin --lint) and it didn't return any error.
However, I'm having another problem, spamd process keeps dying at random times. Do you have any idea what may have caused it? I'm tired having to restart it at random times. Thanks!

Can't help with that as I don't run spamd (I run SpamAssassin through MailScanner which uses a different method).

One thing does come to mind - do you have PRM installed? If so, could that be killing spamd off?

I'm having this same problem. I tried upgrading cPanel just now to the latest RELEASE but it's still not working. I then ran the scripts below and am getting several errors. Does anyone know how to fix them?

    Code:
    # /scripts/updatenow
Updating /scripts...rsync: rename "/scripts/.phpopenbasectl.H9D4Zq" -> "phpopenbasectl": Operation not permitted (1)
rsync: rename "/scripts/.updatemysqlquota.Yj9s4N" -> "updatemysqlquota": Operation not permitted (1)
rsync error: some files could not be transferred (code 23) at main.c(1146)
    Done
    # /scripts/fixspamassassinfailedupdate
    # /scripts/restartsrv_exim
