Does cPanel Offer Free Certificate and does it work?

I've been searching for free certificate on cPanel and as far as I understood cPanel does offer a free SSL Certificate which auto renews. I did check this free SSL certificate for a new domain just now and it seems to work.

I just wanted to know is it really free and will continue to work or there is any catch? Is it worth it?

I'm not worried about security as such, all I need SSL is to keep browsers and freaking Google happy.
