I received an email yesterday about some custom php scripts I had written, being possibly altered (my friend who wrote them said that they looked fine. Today I received the email below. Does cPanel send out false warnings a lot ?
-----------
Subject: Fwd: [check_cpanel_rpms] Altered RPMs found on cpanel.mydomain.net

Problems were detected with cPanel-provided files which are RPM controlled.
If you did not make these changes intentionally, you can correct them by running:

> /usr/local/cpanel/scripts/check_cpanel_rpms --fix

The following RPMs are found to be altered from their original install state:
dovecot,1.2.17,2.cp1136,/usr/libexec/dovecot/imap-login
dovecot,1.2.17,2.cp1136,/usr/libexec/dovecot/pop3-login
dovecot,1.2.17,2.cp1136,/usr/libexec/dovecot/ssl-build-param

EDIT: Turns out it was due to a cPanel update.

Is there a way I can make cPanel email me to tell me it's done an update? So that way, I'll know to disregard the following 'altered files alert' emails ?

Did you set root's mail forward in WHM-> Server Contacts-> Edit System Mail Preferences ?

If you did you should get an email to that email address after cPanel runs upcp.

Thanks! I added my email in there. Hopefully it doesn't email me with much day-to-date stuff :) I don't edit my server's config at all.. I like to 'not know about what's going on' as long as it's running properly.

i got the RPM email too. i think its because of the cpanl update
Thanks. (that email I got when I checked my mail right when I woke up really had me scared - 'thought I'd been hacked!)
