If you are unfamiliar with the secure BIND template, you can check out the website
/http://www.cymru.com/Documents/secure-bind-template.html

I know that the cPanel developers don't focus on BIND that much, they let it get old and out of date. This template takes care of that issue. My question is, will cPanel no longer function or have issues if we update to the secure BIND?

We do not supply BIND, we just work with the BIND your OS vendor supplies. For example, CentOS uses an old version of BIND and backports all contemporary BIND patches to that older version.

You would have to issue the appropriate yum excludes (or equivalent) so your OS does not try to replace BIND with its own again. It is rather unpredictable what would happen, so I advise experimenting on a non-production server first. I know sometimes with new BIND versions we need to adjust some of our code slightly to ensure the new version is accommodated well.

Thank you very much for your reply. Some of our techs were confused. They thought that you supplied the BIND. I will be working on a secure bind fix for CENTOS using CPANEL and report my results.
