can a rh 6.2 using 2.2.19 kernel be upgraded to 2.4.12 kernel only ?

i posted the upgrade instructions and questions here http://webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=23879 just missing a few parts and am not sure if it\'s safe to go from 2.2.19 to 2.4.12 on a red hat 6.2 server?

As long as cpanel is installed it has already updated all the rpms to go from 2.2.x to 2.4.x

Will cpanel update to the last 2.4.12 ?

If not can\'t you make it so it goes automaticly?

    Thanks!

As long as cpanel is installed it has already updated all the rpms to go from 2.2.x to 2.4.x [/quote:fbe86c96ba] does that mean you don\'t need to do a source compile to go from 2.2.x to 2.4.x ? i can use the rpm method ?

    thanks :)

    Can we use the Redhat update agent (up2date 2.5.4 - 1) ?

There shouldn\'t be a problem .. just make sure you have the latest one since older ones have bugs upgrading kernels.
