Hello everyone. I just learned today the difference between POP & IMAP... so I went ahead and setup my iPhone, Outlook and webmail with IMAP instead of POP3 - My questions is, does this slow down the server? I just did a ping on my server, and it returned 187ms when it's usually well below 20 or 30ms

    Thanks

Does anyone have any feedback on my post about IMAP? this is new to me, and now we have about 5 email accounts with IMAP setup, but the server seems to be really slow... just wondering if the IMAP is the cause... Thanks

If you suspect IMAP is the cause, then switch back to using POP3 and test out the change. I don't personally have any experience in testing IMAP versus POP3, although I would imagine a constant connection to the machine for 10s to 100s of email accounts would have an impact on the server's load and latency.
