I set-up a new account yesterday and for some strange reason if I type the domain as

xyzdomain.com I can see the site, but if I type the domain as www.xyzdomain.com I get a connection refused.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Check the VirtualHost container for the domain in httpd.conf and make sure that it has the www.xyzdomain.com ServerAlias line configured. If it has, check the DNS zone and ensure that the www A record is setup correctly.

    Thank you for your reply,

in httpd.conf xyzdomain.com was in serveralias, but not www.xyzdomain.com so I put it in restarted apache and still no luck. DNS zone is set-up properly.

Yesterday I had to run a upcp --force due to the fact that the domain wasn't even being set-up. Maybe this is residual from that? I think I went from r82 to WHM 10.6.0 cPanel 10.6.0-R55.

You actually looked at this box for me a couple of weeks ago.

If you check the DNS for www.xyzdomain.com (not on the server, preferrably on your local PC) is it definitely resolving to the same IP address as xyzdomain.com?
