    hey there.

just converted one of my servers to dovecot and everything seems to be running well. after changing a quota i got the famed "invalid maildirsize file!" message that i have gotten in the past. to fix this i have always deleted the files and regenerated with a script. upon regenerating it only did 2 of the users though. strange? output of the commands:

    Code:
    [root@vps x]# find /home/*/mail/ -name maildirsize
    /home/x/mail/x/vsheptovitsky/maildirsize
    /home/x/mail/x/cgoulding/maildirsize
    /home/x/mail/x/nbouknight/maildirsize
    /home/x/mail/x/mpopowitz/maildirsize
    /home/x/mail/x/tech/maildirsize
    /home/x/mail/x/rbasic/maildirsize
    /home/x/mail/x/tpapp/maildirsize
    /home/x/mail/x/caraica/maildirsize
    /home/x/mail/x/jack/maildirsize
    /home/x/mail/x/lek/maildirsize
    /home/x/mail/x/marnott/maildirsize
    /home/x/mail/x/solsen/maildirsize
    /home/x/mail/x/gmcguire/maildirsize
    [root@vps x]# find /home/*/mail/ -name maildirsize | xargs rm -f
    [root@vps x]# /scripts/generate_maildirsize -force -allaccounts
    [root@vps x]# find /home/*/mail/ -name maildirsize
    /home/x/mail/maildirsize
    /home/x/mail/x/cgoulding/maildirsize
    /home/x/mail/x/caraica/maildirsize

any ideas why it would only do those accounts??

also i have noticed - while the quota limits seem to be working well (larger than 2gb quotas showing up in the imap client) -- BUT -- now my imap client doesnt seem to show how much is being used currently -- im not sure if i have to wait 24 hours for it to recalculate etc - but that could be troubling.

any help would be great! thanks.

Could you just update here, what're the steps taken from your side for regeneration?

Also let us know about the conversion process.

still having some issues with imap clients reporting proper quota limits and usage. i did see that the newest dovecot fixes an issue with reporting of quotas so who knows if that is it - the built in reporting in roudcube seems to work fine though.

the update process was very quick using WHM - less than 2 minutes on a server with over 30 GB of mail folders. the quote in the first post lists how i deleted the maildirsize files and regenerated basically just these two commands:

    Code:
find /home/*/mail/ -name maildirsize | xargs rm -f
    /scripts/generate_maildirsize -force -allaccounts

Are these issues fixed in the latest stable?
    What about the trash issue?

my problem with quotas etc was actually a specific issue to my install they say -- and was able to fix it. apparently the users are supposed to have a directory under /home/<account>/etc/<domain> for the scripts to work properly. once regenerating those and running the generate_maildirsize script things went normally. quotas and everything are running fine.

i am not aware of a trash issue?

The trash issue they mention is an issue where dovecot has no native functionality to remove trash emails. According to other threads a plugin is in the making.

honestly i dont use auto-purging from the trash boxes for anyone so this isnt a real issue -- things have been going great so far with dovecot though... no issues after the initial install.
