I recently switched from Courier to Dovecot .

    My versions are: cPanel 11.24.4-S33345 - WHM 11.24.2 - X 3.9

Using the default settings, the dovecot process would not start.

I started it manually using the command line, and i got the message:

Error: Error in configuration file /etc/dovecot.conf line 423: Unknown setting: maildir_copy_preserve_filename

After commenting out this option and restarting, I got these errors, one at a time:

Error: Error in configuration file /etc/dovecot.conf line 452: Unknown setting: mail_max_userip_connections
Error: Error in configuration file /etc/dovecot.conf line 559: Unknown setting: mail_max_userip_connections
Error: Error in configuration file /etc/dovecot.conf line 630: Unknown setting: cache_negative_ttl

After commenting out all these lines, it finally starts.

Anyone knows what is up with these incompatibile options?

    I am running: dovecot-1.1.6-1cp

    TIA
