I was having a bit of a play downgrading from current to release (and also stable) and noticed after adjusting the update config settings and running the update backend scripts script that this happens:

    Same here

I am getting just the same, even when i do /scripts/updatenow

Error 404 while fetching url http://httpupdate.cpanel.net//cpanelsync/STABLE/scripts/.cpanelsync.bz2
    bzip2: Compressed file ends unexpectedly;
perhaps it is corrupted? *Possible* reason follows.
    bzip2: Success
    Input file = /scripts/.cpanelsync.bz2, output file = /scripts/.cpanelsync

It is possible that the compressed file(s) have become corrupted.
You can use the -tvv option to test integrity of such files.

You can use the `bzip2recover' program to attempt to recover
data from undamaged sections of corrupted files.

but i just dont find that file in my server

You need to update yum.conf located at: /etc/yum.conf
The files/packages can't be found at the location specified in there.

    Hope this helps!

I guess I should point out that exactly the same thing happens on RHEL3 when downgrading to Stable.

    rm /var/cpanel/version/9.9.9.1
    /scripts/upcp

That should fix you guys up.

    No no, I stand corrected.

It does fix it - it's just that cpanel put the 9.9.9.1 file back in /var/cpanel/version after I removed it the first time. Sorry about that :P
