If a user creates a folder in their Webmail (separate from Inbox, Sent, and Trash), how can they subsequently have Outlook or Thunderbird to download the emails that are in that folder?

I had read a long time ago that they could create an account in Outlook using the username of something like "me@example.com#foldername", but now I can't remember and can't find it.

    TIA,

    Jason

Are you using imap on the outlook/thunderbird or are you using pop3?

POP3. I'm sure that I can switch it to IMAP, though, if necessary.

IMAP will leave a copy of messages on the server as you want, it sounds like.

Actually, I don't want the messages to be left on the server.

I have a client that used Webmail for his main account for about 6 years, and is now switching to Outlook. He has several folders created in Webmail, and he's needing to download them all into Outlook. I'm trying to find the best way to get them there.
