Does anyone assist in this problem. I wish to enable readers to download a pdf file. I have placed the file in public_ftp with world set. However when I test the link I get a logon request. How do I set to enable downloads without logon or permission? Can anyone help? Cheers:cool:

It sounds like you are attempting to setup "anonymous ftp" service ....

In order to have anonymous ftp, your web site has to be on it's own dedicated IP address and anonymous FTP services also have to be enabled in WHM (FTP Server Configuration).

I generally don't advise allowing anonymous ftp but if you are going to do that then restrict anonymous ftp uploads and make the service "download only" just for a number of security reasons.

You might find it easier to simply place your .pdf in the public_html directory.

    Then grab it at yourdomain.com/yourfile.pdf

Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...

What Infopro just said would be preferable to anonymous FTP unless you are talking about unusually large file transfers (doubtful with just PDF files).
