    Am receiving this in exim_mainlog:

    2005-04-30 04:08:33 H=(z.peruda.com) [69.90.116.34] F=<john@peruda.com> rejected RCPT <webmaster@maxsource.net>: Unrouteable address

The "Unrouteable address" happens for all e-mail addresses at this one domain.

I have spent quite some time reading through posts and trying various ideas - upgrading exim, checked /etc/localdomains and /etc/remotedomains for proper placement, etc. but to no avail.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks much.

    Have you run:

    /scripts/mailperm

Also check that the domain/account is listed in /etc/userdomains

I did both and I'm still getting "Unrouteable address." Interestingly, the domain was not in /etc/userdomains, but now it is and I've restarted Exim - same error message.

Thanks for the ideas - anything else you can think of?

Here is some more info about what's going on:

    1. I tried to create mail forwarder vs@maxsource.net to forward to
alicel@max-source.com. It says it is creating the forwarder and does not
give any error. But, the forwarder never appears in the list of forwarders.

    2. I reset the password for test@maxsource.net to "<SNIP>". I then tried
to log into webmail for that mailbox. But, it never accepts my
username/password combo. The same is true for the other mailboxes on this
    domain.

If this was any domain other than the root domain, we would just delete it
and recreate it. But, I'm afraid we might mess something up if we do that
since maxsource.net is the primary domain.

It sounds like the domain did not get setup correctly in the mail files. You should check the fil ownership for the domain file in /etc/valiases/domain.com is correct (and check the contents while you're there) and that it exists in /etc/localdomains. It's pretty difficult to say where the problem is without looking at it.

The domain is in /etc/localdomains and the correct permissions are set on /etc/valiases/domain

    Any other ideas?

Also, if you wouldn't mind taking a look at at chirpy, I will purchase your $30 MailScanner install - not for this server, but for a different one. Private message me for the root password if you're willing. Thanks!
