ea_php_cli.pm did not return a true value at /usr/bin/php line 17

System : CLOUDLINUX 7.6 v78.0.21

Problem :

# /usr/bin/php -v
ea_php_cli.pm did not return a true value at /usr/bin/php line 17.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/bin/php line 17.

In MultiPHP manager the default PHP is set to ea-php56 and calling it directly does work :

# /usr/bin/ea-php56 -v
PHP 5.6.40 (cgi-fcgi) (built: Feb 10 2019 17:28:10)
Copyright (c) 1997-2016 The PHP Group

I have tried to reset the default PHP but it didn't help. Any ideas how to diagnose this further?
