Easyapache upgrade to php 5.3.10 fails

I'm attempting to upgrade to the latest php release available on easyapache. The build fails with the following error:

make: *** [ext/date/lib/parse_date.lo] Error 1
!! 'make' failed with exit code '512' !!
!! Restoring original working apache !!

Any ideas, workarounds?

Have a check at Fix. If you are on Virtuzzo, this will be it.
