We are trying to test an off-site spam and virus filter. The system works by us pointing MX to another server that marks up and filters the email. That server forwards the mail to our server.

I setup exim to accept from the host using /etc/alwaysrelay . I telnet to port 25 on that host and tested sending a message and it came through fine.

Then we updated MX using cpanel. A message like the following was show:

Reconfiguring Local Mail: This server will NOT serve as the primary mail exchanger for foo.net's mail.

Is there a way in cpanel to edit the MX without turning off local mail hosting?

There is a checkbox labeled "Always accept mail locally even if the primary mx does not point to this server".
