Editing httpd.conf - will I lose changes with CPanel config changes?

    I need to use RewriteMap on a CPanel server. I've added it to httpd.conf and have the functionality working.

    Will CPanel ever re-write the httpd.conf file, and potentially lose the changes I've manually made to the file (e.g. when a new account is added that has to be put in the httpd.conf) ?

    I have many custom configuration lines for clients in httpd.conf -- and I've updated cpanel quite a few times -- never have the lines disappeared as a result of an update or an account addition -- so I'm going to say no.

    It may re-write if you rebuildhttpdconf tho -- although I should note I have run that script and the custom lines remain.

    I agree with wcrooks. It seems that cpanel changes httpd by inserting and changing lines, but never writes it from scratch. I still keep frequent backup copies though, in case of an error or change to that policy.
