How do I edit x3 theme to remove items such as kernel version, etc?

    I am looking in /usr/local/cpanel/base/frontend/x3

I go to edit stat.html but it doesnt have anything about kernel version.

    So still looking

Also when I edit a file, do I have to restart any service for the update to take effect immediately on cPanel?

If you're just editing the theme, you shouldn't have to restart any services (such as cpsrvd). However, if you do edit the X3 theme (or any other bundled theme), it may become overwritten by /scripts/upcp in the future. Your best option if you are modifying a theme is to copy it and edit your copy instead.

Yes that is what I did. I copied it as x3mod and editing it.

Do you how I go about removing the kernel version and so on?

You can do this by editing the syles for x3. I have instructions for doing this in the slides of the Branding presentation I gave at the 2008 cPanel Conference. The slides are available at:

    http://www.cpanel.net/conference/08/files/Branding.pdf

Slide 32 covers removing the OS info, but you can simply remove:

    Code:
    |kernelversion
From the list of parameters to this function to remove the kernel version.

If you are not already familiar with our branding system, it may be best to read all of the prior slides to have a better understanding of what, precisely, you are doing.

Slide 43 covers how to force the use of a specific style for all of your users.

If you are unclear about anything mentioned in the slides, please let me know.
