We have the server setup with the 'primary' domain that makes up the FQDN. However, there doesn't seem to be a simple way to set up email accounts for the default domain.

Can you create an account for cpanel to 'manage' the default domain? is that the correct/only way to do this?

Right now, if we visit the web site, we get the cpanel message that "there is no website configured at this address".

Guidance would be most appreciated. Thanks.

You can create a cPanel account that is the same as the domain used for the hostname. However, what you cannot do is to create a cPanel account with the same name as the hostname. That is, if your server is server.mydomain.com, then you can create a cPanel account for mydomain.com, but you cannot create one for the higher level server.mydomain.com.
