    Hi....

one of my customer has created around 32000 email ID's in a account. Now when he creates another ID it gets created but the user isn't able to login to the webmail also unable to check mail thorugh pop/IMAP....

When i checked the server it is unable to create the directory under /home/user/mail/domain/USERNAME it says mkdir: cannot create directory `USERNAME': Too many links

Could you please suggest as to what can be done in this concern?

    error in maillog file:-
    imapd: USERNAME@DOMAIN: chdir(/home/USER/mail/DOMAIN/USERNAME) failed!!

    Thanks
    Rajat

This maybe due to limit within file system.

Locate for the file ext3_fs.h . There is a line in there #define
EXT3_LINK_MAX 32000. Increasing that will allow you to create more files
after recompiling your kernel. Well , i don't recommend on doing this as 32000 should be pretty good value .

Deleting unwanted accounts may be a quick fix . Or create a new home partition as /home2 .
