Has anyone ever had a complaint, or seen this:

I have a client that is getting flooded with messages that say:

"Your IMAP server wants to alert you tot he following: Fatal error: max atom size too small: File exists"

I can not for the life of me figure out what is causing this....?

Hello :)

Which specific email client is in-use when this message occurs? Is it happening on alternate email clients, or is it isolated to a single email client on a specific email account?

Thank you.

It looks like he is using outlook 2013. I'll see if he can try another client as well. I was thinking it was a message directly from the imap server based on the wording of the error, but do you think it could be client specific?

The message likely stems from Courier. How many emails are in this particular inbox?

Thank you.

it's a very large mailbox. The inbox has 60k+ e-mails. Some sub-folders have more.

You may want to consider switching to Dovecot if you have not done so already. It may handle this many emails a little better than Courier. Also, what type of file system (e.g. ext3) is in use?

Thank you.

I didn't realize we were still running courier on that server. I think switching to Dovecot has worked so far.
