    Hi

Im trying to forward emails sent to my webmail inbox. The domain is www.tradesupplies.co.uk and the email address is mail@tradesupplies.co.uk. I would like all mail sent to this address forwarded to a different address i.e. hotmail.

I tried to setup forwarding in my cpanel account but messges dont arrive at the forwarded address. Are their setting somewhere else I have to sort out i.e. where the domain is registered?

    Thanks
    Gareth

You should be able to just set up the forward and it work immediately.

I am assuming you are a Hosting Account Owner rather than a server owner/root user. In that case, you should contact your web hosting provider as they likely need to slightly re-configure their servers to deal with hotmail's particular way of accepting emails.

I know several of the larger ISPs have their particular specifications on what a mail server has to do before the server will accept it.

In the future, you may not want to post a real e-mail address onto an Internet forum as such addresses may be harvested by spammers. Instead of doing what you did, say mail@xxx or something to that effect so you don't get deluged with spam.

Thanks bud for the reply. My first time on the forum and it seems to be useful.

Hotmail was only an example of where I wanted to forward webmail to. Does it make a difference if I want to forward it to a pop3 account. I guess this is a common task people want and thought it would be straight forward.

No it shouldn't matter WHAT email address you're sending to (with the possible exception of meeting the recipient server's requirements as David indicated).

    1) check and see if you possibly have a typo in either the yourdomain address or the destination address.

    2) Maybe your messages are being snagged as spam on the recipient end for some reason?
