lets say i have a client who's website is hosted on another server somewhere in the world with for eg adomain.com as the address. How would i go about setting up an account that receives the email for adomain.com, would i still need to setup the account as usual and then do something fancy in the DNS zone settings with the MX records?

This is assuming that i can change settings for the domain :)

Here is how you can make this possible:

    1. Change the MX record of that domain, where ever it has been in the world ;), to the hostname of your server. To be more specific, you will need to edit the DNS zone of adomain.com at the current host, this will route all the email for adomain.com to your server.

    2. Then Add adomain.com on your server as MailDomain, so that you/client can manage all the email functions.

    Thats all it needs.
