Looking in my daily bounced mails, i spotted this today from a customers server.

X-AntiAbuse: Primary Hostname - host.server.co.uk
X-AntiAbuse: Original Domain - customer.com
X-AntiAbuse: Originator/Caller UID/GID - [47 12] / [47 12]
X-AntiAbuse: Sender Address Domain - adomian.co.uk
X-Get-Message-Sender-Via: my.server.co.uk: authenticated_id: [email protected]
X-DNS-Warning: Reverse DNS lookup failed for host xxx.xxx.xxx.xx
X-HELO-Warning: Remote host xxx.xxx.xxx.xx incorrectly presented itself as my.server.co.uk
Received-SPF: pass (in6b.electric.net: domain of adomian.co.uk designates xxx.xxx.xxx.xx as permitted sender)
client-ip=xxx.xxx.xxx.xx; [email protected]; helo=host.server.co.uk;

So i ran 3 different RDNS tests from 3 different online engines and all 3 resolved the reverse dns to my server, using the same IP address as the one listed in those headers.

Any ideas ?

Hello,

Please contact your hosting provider and ask them to check the RDNS Of your server, May be RDNS is not setup correctly and due to that you are getting this issues.

Hello :)

Have you verified the hostname of the server resolves to the IP address used for sending email, and that IP address has RDNS pointed back to the hostname?

Thank you.

I'd been toying with the reserve IP address and made a schoolboy error in DNS.
As soon as i saw it, i knew what it was.
