Does anyone know if there is a way to make cpanel support 2 way email authentication like earthlink provides?

For those who dont know how the earth link system works:

A new person send you an email - the system responds by asking them to authenticate their sending address by entering a hard to read # into a text field. The sender only had to do this 1 time and is whitelisted.

Spam gets held in a holding area for a few days and if the sender doesnt respon, the email is deleted.

If there isn't a module for exim, is there a module for another open-source Linux based email system cpanel supports?

If there is trouble, it will find me
    That's already available within cpanel:

As casey says, boxtrapper will do that (install cPanel Pro in WHM > Addon Modules).

However, expect a lot of people to not bother authenticating with you and to lose a lot of legitimate email (much more that if you installed a decent spam scanning service). Challenge response systems often cause more problems for email systems that spam does.

There are other options too that you can install on a per cPanel account basis with a bit of work.

Btw, you can only use exim on a cPanel server for full email support.

Does boxtrapper have wildcards in the white list?

so *@ebay.com would let all ebay mail through.

Boxtrapper does not have the user enter a code though, does it? it just ask for a reply email? Does anyone know?

I view it as, if they can't bother to to authenticate, then the message was not really that important. One less thing to read or waste time on.

Boxtrapper, for me works fine. I have it set to 5 days of holding, which give me time to peek in once in a while and see who's not replied to the auto response.

You need to install the cPanel Pro addon.

Actually boxtrapper works by the user having to reply to the message. It would be a HUGE improvement If it worked with BOTH REPLY AND/OR a link in the email message. Additionally a link to a page that required you to enter an code from an image...

Any thoughts on adding this. I know it's stupid but the REPLY TO THIS EMAIL thing really trips up "stupid" people. They all get the ones that say "Click the link" though.

I think it would be best to offer both methods.

I read in another post that BoxTrapper causes huge server overloads. Has that been your experience?

I'm considering using it but a little worried about the overloads.

    Thanks.

    where to find cpanel pro

When you configure cpanel in whm:

In the cpanel section of whm > AddOn Modules > pro

    Boxtrapper is in there.

    Geoff

    P. S. I don't understand why anyone would post "use the search" as a response.

Because the answer to the persons actual question (which is not what you answered) has been discussed at length before - namely that they wanted information about the add-on
