Earlier I wrote I know my problem is probably local but here goes. I was having problems and kept getting
Permanent error with Rcpt To: 550-Verification failed for so I went to exim config editor and turn receipt verification off.

Nothing goes through. I go to dnsreports.com and test things out and I get
[Successful connect: Got a good response [250 Accepted]]

Still nothing. What could I be doing wrong? Thanks for the help

I really am perplexed I think I am set up correctly.

That did it. I have been trying things on and off for weeks. I really appreciate the help. I was doing it to a test account so I could launch on a real account. This gives me some confidence. One more question. Should I turn on the verification mode? My whole reason for trying Cpanel is as a spam tool. Thanks again!!!!!

This is from a working server. It should be the same there. If so.. do not alter anything.

I appreciate that and I will try it. My question is do I want this installed. It is my understanding this will halt the spam. Is this a good tool?

the beginning of the file is the same. But you need to get to the part that starts as :

#sender verifications are required for all messages that are not sent to lists

and then do the check. i have given a clip from the file that relates to verification.

You can use the 'vi' editor or the pico to make the changes. But I suggest that you better ask your support team to make the changes.

I will do that. I turn the verification back on in exim configuration and I get
Reason: Fatal error sending message: Permanent error with Rcpt To: 550-Verification failed for name@domain.com

I will talk to my support team, thanks for all the help at least I can see it working

See I am not familiar with anything but Cpanel and very little of that. One question I did have was this. I updated my config of my Cpanel server. Wouldn't that have updated the exim? If not is there some diagnostic I should run to check all of this. I just set things up 3-4 months ago I don't want to fall behind already!:)

Also to let you know I am forwarding some mail to that account I set up. It is correctly marking things as spam. I can't wait to try out the message verification. I would think that stops spam dead!

would you like me to post or email some files or config files so you can see exactly what you are dealing with? I am happy with the way things are going but I would like to see how the email verification works. I would love to slow down the spam.

    Thanks
