Sometimes users report me they can't receive emails and stuff like that. Usually it's because their internet connection dropped or they wrote a wrong email address.

Whatever is the case, I would like to send a test email to any address using SSH.

    So far I found this:

    /usr/lib/sendmail -v 'destination@address.com'
    ^D (control D)

But... the only bad thing about it is that I cannot specify the "from". It always has root as from.

Is there any way to specify the from in a test mail like this?

    Thanks!

    Use the -f parameter

    /usr/lib/sendmail -f from@address.com -v to@address.com
