Email to and from hostname with root

My hostname is server.domain.com and I get a ton of [email protected] emails sent to itself in the mail delivery reports but obviously I have no email at that address. Do I try and create an email for that address and see what it's trying to email itself or troubleshoot it another way?

The emails are trying to send/receive about 50 times a day.

You can enter an email address for the "root" contact so that the email notifications are delivered to an address of your choosing.
