Hello

has anyone noticed problems sending emails to bellsouth.net today? We have 3 or 4 accounts who send out various daily mailing to bellsouth email addresses and we noticed the following in the exim log file:

we have no problems sending to other email addresses, like AOL, yahoo or other email addresses, just bellsouth.net. I have checked our nameserver setup, the account DNS reports, everything is fine, but bellsouth keeps rejecting our emails coming from our server.

These emails are sent from Perl scripts.

TIA,
Mickalo

Doing a quick check at dnsreports.com shows some problems:

ERROR: I could not complete a connection to any of your mailservers!

justlightening.net: Timed out [Last data sent: RCPT TO: ]

If this is a timeout problem, note that the DNS report only waits about 40 seconds for responses, so your mail *may* work fine in this case but you will need to use testing tools specifically designed for such situations to be certain.

the justlightening.justlightening.net is our hostname, which always in emails sent via Perl scripts and has NEVER caused any problems in the past. As I say, all other emails going out are having no problems, and include the same identical hostname in the mail header, when sent via Perl scripts. Normal like [email protected]

I'm having a similar issue. I have clients that I host that can't send through thier bellsouth.net DSL. They can receive email just not send. They get a massage domain name not found, or something to that effect. I check dnsstuff and others and everything is ok. This problem started a few months ago and has gotten progressively worse.

Did you get anywhere with this?

the problem most definately on bellsouth's end. After I posted this message, by the end of the day, all mail going to bellsouth from our server was moving fine. and haven't had any issues since then as far as I know.

Hmmm...

I'm having this problem as well with bellsouth.net addresses. This is the error that shows up if I try to manually deliver a message from the queue:

Connecting to mx00.mail.bellsouth.net [205.152.58.32]:25 from 69.50.XX.XX ... connected
SMTP<< 421 Service not available
SMTP>> QUIT
LOG: MAIN

Yep, this was the same problem we had a while back and it was on bellsouth's end. We haven't had any problems since, that I aware of. The IP address, I believe is the same too.
