    Hello,
I want to send pages to our paging terminal via serial port using "sendpage" or something similar. We are a communications company with hundreds of pagers still in use; we also own and administer the cPanel server. Is it possible to configure an e-mail alias to run a program on the server? I searched the forums and couldn't fond any information on this.

    Thanks,
    Patrick McNeal

I am not familiar with the technical details of sendpage, but cPanel/WHM can route incoming email to an executable file. Simply ensure the file has proper permissions (many people forget the executable permissions) and for your forwarder, in the cPanel interface, choose the option to pipe to program. Now, cPanel will only let you pipe to an executable within your home directory, but that is typically not an issue for most using this feature.

The executable can be a shell script if you desire.

    David,
Thank you for the reply. It works flawlessly. I created a symbolic link to the program in the user folder and that works, too. Security should not be an issue as our customers do not have shell access.

    Thanks again,
