    Hi

A cpanel email has been setup with a user name of john+macabre.org.uk. I have entered these details together with the password and other info in Outlook (Office 2003) and all works fine, I can receive emails sent to the address.

However, when I try to setup the same details in Outlook 2007 under windows 7 I get a login error.

If I replace the '+' with a '@' the error disappear but I get no emails since this is the wrong username presumably.

Any ideas folks? Is the + sign OK in Outlook 2007?

    Many thanks,

    John

Why is it the wrong username?

Remember, if you download mail onto another program via POP3, then there'll be no new mail for Outlook 2007 to download.

You can use either the @ or the + sign, they both work the same way.

But I have to admin, it's rather confusing why cPanel shows a username as user+domain.ltd, when end users are told to use user@domain.tld

I am assuming it is since john+macabre.org.uk is different to john@macabre.org.uk although it doesn't produce a login error.

Yes, I sent another email after closing Outlook 2003 and receiving on Outlook 2007.

I thought that ought to be the case but I can't why I am not receiving on the Outlook 2007 account. Other no cpanel generated accounts are working fine on the machine.

I have set the account up the same, this seems to be the only difference.

    Thanks for your response.

Just to eliminate this possibility, is there anyone here from the cpanel team who can confirm that what I am seeing should not happen so that I can look somewhere else for the problem.

    Many thanks,

    John
