Emails are being forwarded to the wrong adress

I've just started working at a company.

The company made (in Cpanel) an email adress [email protected]

All of the emails that are send to me, must be forwarded to [email protected]

So in Cpanel, we created a email forwarder, followed the steps and we got the confirmation message that all emails to [email protected] would be forwarded to [email protected]

Now, whenever somebody sends an email to [email protected], its not being forwarded to my gmail but to the email adress of the site owner [email protected]

I've tried removing and replacing the forwarder, no luck.

What did I do wrong ?

When you create an email account, and add a forwarder, any email sent to that email account you created gets the email, and the email is forwarded.

In your cPanel > Mail section > Forwarders, you should see the email Address and where its being forwarded to, you should also see, on the right side, a link to "Trace" the email. Click that. Might get some clues there possibly.
