If this is an urgent issue, I recommend submitting a support ticket at http://tickets.cpanel.net/submit rather than pursuing this via the community forums.

If you want to pursue this via the community forums, please provide more information. For example, does the username begin with a number? Was there anything else in the error message that was generated?

Is the username a valid Unix username? cPanel users are created as standard Unix users on the cPanel/WHM machine, meaning the username assigned must be a valid Unix username.

Try checking /usr/local/cpanel/logs/error_log for verbose information about why the account creation is failing.

Type the following in the shell:
    Code:
    # /usr/local/cpanel/cpkeyclt
I have seen the problem you describe not being able to add any users many times and it almost always has to do with the license info getting munched in Cpanel and once you refresh it with the above command, everything will generally return to normal.

(Unless of course you have an expired license such as with demos, etc)

This can also happen if you change the primary IP on your server which causes a mismatch between your Cpanel license and what is shown for your server machine when it connects to update that information.

In more rare cases, you can get that message if your /home partition were full but you usually would see other obvious signs other than just being unable to add new accounts. Most likely your issue is just the Cpanel license.

    This is incorrect

The cPanel license would not affect the ability to add accounts. cPanel is licensed on a per-server basis, not per-account or per-domain, and updating the license information will not help in this situation. If you are able to log into the WebHost Manager and cPanel, and you do not see a warning about the license, the license is fine.

You can verify the status of the license by logging into the shell and viewing /usr/local/cpanel/logs/license_log.

If you experience a problem adding accounts, there can be several possible causes. If the situation is urgent, please submit a ticket so that we may log in and investigate the situation directly.
