I wonder why destination are added and other improvements are happening, but no encryption is offered via cPanel backup. Encryption via public key and symmetric password. You cannot distribute backups around the globe as a protection of dataloss without any encryption applied.

Why do you think cPanel isn't working on such a feature? Is nobody in need of such a feature? Is everybody scripting their own backupscripts? It's 2019 and no indication for improvement in that area?

    Hello @lorio,

There's a user-submitted potential workaround on the following thread that may interest you:

Encrypting Backups & Sending to AWS S3 Bucket

There's also some progress on the feature request linked in your signature:

Backup Destination FTP with SSL/TLS support

As you can see it's tagged with "v80" indicating a possibility this will make it's way into the product in cPanel & WHM version 80, though keep in mind that's tentative, and the internal case on the matter suggests it's more likely for a tentative inclusion of this feature to occur in version 82.

I'll also post the following feature request link here for others to vote and add feedback (I see you've already done this) so that it helps bring attention to the demand for this feature:

Backups - encryption of backups (symmetric and asymmetric)

    Thank you.
