ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP server.

    i got following error when i logged into squirrelmail
    ERROR:
    ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP server.

    Warning: Unknown: open(/tmp/sess_2ea81b0420810fc8c122c56d90202661, O_RDWR) failed: Permission denied (13) in Unknown on line 0

    Warning: Unknown: Failed to write session data (files). Please verify that the current setting of session.save_path is correct (/tmp) in Unknown on line 0

    Did you check the permissions for the /tmp ? It might not be set correctly or have gone Read-Only.
    Also , check whether there is enough free space available in that.

    no i didn't which permission should be /tmp ?

    /tmp should be something like:

    drwxrwxrwt 8 root root 11264 Apr 24 10:30 /tmp/

    You can do the following if it's not:
    If it's read-only, then you'll need to delete the tmpDSK and recreate it.
    Test that with:
    Code:
    cd /tmp
    touch file
    However, the "connection dropped by IMAP server" error in Squirrelmail is frequently resolved with:

    its working fine without doing anything however i would like to inform you that it was due to backup running process on our server that's all.
